An antique wooden caddy with lid and original, hand-blown glass beaker and metal lining.
 
This caddy is beautiful and rare. It is square in shape but has two curved sides. The lid had a turned black wooden finial. The caddy has a rubber bung around the rim of the lid to preserve the contents from the air and secure the lid. 

The caddy has a small glass beaker, which is hand-blown and has a yellowish tinge of soda glass. The beaker fits very snuggly inside the caddy and can be removed by easing it up gently. There is also an original metal lining with some remnants of silvering between the glass beaker and the wood. 
The base of the caddy has a dark blue felt cover.
 
The patina of the caddy is a beautiful rich brown - it shows its age with some marks and as we purchased it whilst visiting a famous harbour in the South of England with a strong history of ships and trade routes by sea - I imagine it has been on some voyages across the Oceans and has aquired this lovely patina and history of marks on the wood along the way.
 
The only area of previous damage is the lid which has a small crescent shaped segment which has previously been broken and repaired. It is hardly noticeable, and doesn't  detract from the appeal of the object.

Items shipped to destinations outside of the UK, will be sent via a Tracked and/or Signed For service.
