A very large and highly unusual, double-sided Victorian Brooch and Pendant combined.
This unique piece of Victorian jewellery is made of gold metal pinchbeck and has two black and white portraits of a man and a woman. The photographs have been lightly hand tinted, and the ladies' jewellery tinted with gilding. They are behind bevelled oval glass.
There are scrolls and foliage engraved around the edge.
It has a loop at the top to attach a chain so that it can be worn as a pendant.
(Chain not supplied)
The brooch pendant is in very good condition. The oval portrait holder is like a locket, though it doesn't open. Instead, it swivels and rotates on a central pin. The brooch pin secures with the man facing to the front.
Approximate size:
7.3cm h x 6cm w x 1.5cm d
The portrait sizes are 4.5cm h x 3.5cm w. The rotating part is 1cm thick.
