This portrait photograph was taken in the 1930's when Menuhin was a young man in his late teens- early twenties.

The photograph was taken by the highly acclaimed glamour photographer of the 1930's in America, Herbert Mitchell. He also hand signed the photograph in white.
 
This particular photo is rather special and unique as it has a lovely hand written sentiment and dedication to a Mrs. Ward and then signed and dated by Yehudi Menuhin. The date is slighlty unclear as to whether it is 1931 or 1937.
 
The dedication reads:
"To my friend Mrs. Ward, in memory of a delightful afternoon, looking forward to a future in which we will spend many such quiet afternoons with you in Sheffield,
Yehudi Menuhin
Nov.13.193? "
 
Yehudi Menuhin was born in America and was a child prodigy becoming a famous violinist and conductor with an illustrous career spanning severeal decades. He spent much time in and around Yorkshire in the Uk, founding a school. He passed away in 1999.
 
The sepia portrait photograph is in a lightweight display frame with glass. The photograph is in good condition with some fading to the ink of the dedication, it is still well legible.
