This is a beautiful and very elegant, rare antique plate produced by Davenport Longport in the early 19th Century Georgian period.
Regency in style, this fine china plate has a delicate and intricate design of grapes and grapevines and the green transfer ware pattern has been very skilfully applied to the plate.
The Davenport Longport mark on the base, can be dated between 1805 - 1850s and quite possibly made around 1820.
It was made in England in Staffordshire at the Davenport ceramics factory.
It's in really good condition and for its age a wonderful example. It has no chips or cracks.
On the back, just by the scalloped edge is a tiny firing fault which is under the glaze and is hardly noticeable. Please see all photos, thank you.The plate is more like a shallow bowl or serving platter with its pie-crust rim. It was quite possibly intended to serve grapes.
