A beautiful and enchanting, Alexandrite or Neodymium vintage glass ashtray.
Possibly Italian glass, produced by Murano and designed by Flavio Poli.
Made in the 1950 - 1960s, this amazing glass item changes colour depending on the light it is in. It varies from a pale lilac purple through to a greeny grey blue.
Though it appears to be an ashtray, it could also be used as a trinket dish or even a tiny dining table dish for salt, pepper or herbs.
This piece of Alexandrite glass is multi-faceted with clean crisp angles and a flat polished base. It is square or diamond shaped depending how you position it.
It is in good order though does have some nibbles on the base corners and edge which are not immediately noticeable. The top corners are in fine condition and there are no cracks or very obvious chips.
The imperfections are reflected in the price as Alexandrite / Neodymium glass is unusual and items command good prices.
