Fabulous, unusual and very rare lobster pendant necklace designed by Alexis Kirk in the 1960s - 1970s.
The necklace features a large lobster, possibly gold plated, hanging from a metal chain interspersed with white plastic beads. The white beads that drop from the lobster are set into gilt gold sea shells.
The combination of opulent gold and plain plastic materials was favoured and explored by Alexis Kirk in his designs, using various materials in the same piece.
I have not found another Alexis Kirk necklace like this and believe it to be very rare and possibly unique.

Alexis Kirk (29 December 1936 – 17 May 2010) was an American jewellery designer who also designed clothing and fashion accessories. He came from a family history of skilled craftsman and Alexis's jewellery pieces were admired and highly sought after by the rich and famous, film stars, first ladies and royalty, namely The Duchess of Windsor.
